CLONLIFFE HARRIERS’ BRIAN GREGAN may have finished sixth in his heat of the 400m at the Athletics World Championships in Moscow on Sunday morning but it was still enough to qualify for the semi finals as a fastest loser.
23-year old Gregan, who has a personal best of 45.53, ran 46.04 in the second heat of the morning, won by Brazil’s Anderson Henriques in a PB of 45.13.
The time was enough to give Gregan one of the four fastest loser spots and he will line up in lane two of the first semi final on Monday at 17.05 Irish time.
With three sub 45 second runners in his heat, Gregan will need to run close to his PB to make the final.

Elsewhere Ireland’s Tori Pena will take take part in the women’s pole vault qualification this afternoon, starting at 16.10 Irish time.
